#3 that is why you use air to blow them out

#4 they actually help you guide the spark plug in straighter because they fit nicely in the heat shield not allowing you to tilt it too far.

#5 They do hold the boot, that is why you twist the boot first then pull with a spark plug wire puller if you can't do it by hand.
1+++ I can have all my plugs pulled in three minutes, no problem. Yes, I can see how the last two on the driver's side of the motor can be awkward, but its not hard to get around the brake cylinder. And it may just be me too, I am left handed so I do thing a little different that you North pole people do.

I did one plug, one wire, then moved on. Couldn't see where the wires go on the cap, so I figured I would just do it that way. Took an hour and a half, including gapping them myself.

I didn't think it was that bad considering it was my first time doing it on the 5.2.

Try doing a plug change on a V10. #9 and #10 on the driver's side is done by feel as you can't see the plugs.

What the heck? This thread is two pages long? I've changed plugs and wires so many times because of pinging issues over the 7 1/2 years having the ram it's as easy as changing oil. What's next, "Changing air filter in a V8 sucks"???

Actually, changing the air filter IS more of a PITA then doing the plugs if you have the stock air intake.

Can't say that I've had any major difficulties changing spark plugs.

Ha, yeah they're about the same. But again, after this many years in our relationship, I've gotten pretty quick at swapping the filter. This is the main reason to keep my old girl -- I know everything good and bad and can fix/maintain easily.

To the main poster:
Good job doing the plugs/wires. At least now you'll be able to do it again much easier and you'll have confidence when working on your rig.
