Default Remote Start 101

I ran across this today...

http://www.hornetcarsecurity.com/Pro...?ProductID=810

It's perfect since it doesn't have the buttons for lock and unlock (since I don't have power locks). I read the manual and it goes over the basic stuff but nothing about wiring. For those who have been here before, do I need one of the bypass things? Trying to weigh the cost to see if it is worth it or not.

i have no idea how it wires up. it sounds like you find about 10 wires and splice into them.

If you had the instructions on the front cover and most likely three more times in the book it would read PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Be very careful if you don't know what you are doing or understand what you are doing it may cost you more to get it fixed then it would have for the original install with towing and all.

If you do decide to delve into it here is a link for a web site that I used for my install. http://www.the12volt.com/

It took me along time but I had time and I soldered every connection and wired the locks as well.

Hater! lol

I love remoting starting my truck as im just about to get into it, that way I dont have to waste 1/2 a second to turn the key and crank the motor myself.
I also save a few seconds by unlocking my doors via my keyfob. I dont consider having these being lazy! no sir, Im just managing my time better so I have more time for the important things in life.

Thanks for the link! I just took a quick glance at it and looks like tons of information to keep me busy not with just this project I don't have a fear of wiring 12v so if I bought it I would definately install myself. The reason I asked the question about the bypass stuff was because I had a friend of a friend who installed an alarm in a dodge ram and told me I would need one. The website for the remote start is about useless. Im sure the remote start will come with wiring instructions so im not worried about that. Just wondered if anyone installed a remote start without one of the bypass things (I forget the name).
