Coil springs or coil spacers?
thas what i was figuring, now what springs do you have? i was thinking of getting the V10 springs. or woul the diesal ones do me better, becasue i took my sway bar off already, i still have it but its off, fun and kind of crazy with just the stock springs, but i only want to stiffen that by a little. i still want that lean and softness. but lift. if that is possible
To be honest with you I am not totally sure (I got them from a local spring shop), but since I gained 3 1/2" of lift from them I am guessing they are the diesel/V10 springs.
The diesel and V10 springs are the same spring (so I have read through my years of researching), the 3/4 ton V8 is not so stiff and will not gain as much lift.
I can barley notice my sway bar is even missing while driving down the road, but while wheeling it is like night and day - WAY more flex (duh). I think it is cause the springs are so stiff though that it rides decent without it. I bet it is quite squirly with stock coils.
If you only want a little stiffer you may just want to by a 3" lift coil for a half ton (like skyjacker or something). It is a heck of a lot stiffer with the diesel coils.
his truck 4.5'' - 5'' ? Even if he went with the blocks he would still have to get all that stuff.
I was just saying that the cost of the blocks themselves compared to the cost of springs
themselves was practically negligible. Correct me meanwhitemopar cause I'm still too lazy
to read the whole post.
I guess I should have read the whole post lol (still haven't) I thought he wanted to raise

For a 3" coil spacer (or springs for that matter) nothing has to be changed except shocks. But, 4-5" higher and track bar, pitman arm, and control arms should be replaced.
Really? I was told from many members on this forum that a 3" spacer was passed the maxing point. When I had a 3" spacer, many forum members warned me that my suspension components would wear and tear earlier because of the inordinate angles that were being placed on the truck. 1-2" was said to be OK to get away with. I had to buy an adjustable track bar from Thuren in order for my axle to be re-centered, and I never got around to affording the other essential pieces.

Sure, it will wear parts out quicker than the stock setup, but they are still not NEEDED.
From personal experience I will further explain. I bought my truck brand new and within a week I installed the diesel coils and add-a-leafs that I still have on the truck today (which have since settled to about 3 1/2" of lift). I did not change anything except the shocks, and I also got an alignment (which is a must). Till this day (nearing 160k miles) I am still driving with the STOCK/ORIGINAL track bar and steering parts, all which amazingly still appear in good condition.
So no, upgrading a track bar/steering/control arms in the front is not needed with 3" of lift... but yes, it will certainly drive better and parts will live longer if this stuff is replaced.
