Default Dodge Ram 1500 Sport against Non Sport Model. Bumper question!

Hello Everyone!

So I know there is a difference in the front end between the Sport model and Non-Sport Model but I don't quite know what.

I've only ever owned the Sport so I was curious why an aftermarket Bull Bar from a Regular 1500 won't match up and mount on the Sport model.

Is it the "plastic" bumper extends down to far? Why you would put a plastic or ABS bumper on a truck is beyond me!

Would I be able to go to the junkyard, rip off a chrome bumper/metal from similar era Dodge and put it on my sport without any modifications? If so what modifications would I need to do??

My truck : 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Sport
Victim Truck: 2000-2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 NON-Sport

Would it work?

Thanks!!

the front end parts that are different between the sport and non-sport are: Grille, headlights and bumper/bumper cover. The sport uses a quad headlamp system. In order to use a non sport bumper you would also need to use a non-sport grille. The older sport models (i dont know what years) were just painted versions of the chrome stuff, fyi

Sport bumpers up to 1998 are basically just painted non sport bumpers. But, its the 99 and up sport bumpers that are totally different (as well as the grill/headlights). They are much taller (lower to the ground) then the regular bumpers and lots of stuff will not fit under (like bull bars, plow frames, etc.) without cutting some of it away.

Thats the reason why the off road sport bumpers have a notch in them for the tow hooks (which fit right under the non-sport bumper).

I love the sport bumpers...was told there would be a mounting issue also? I'd love to take a sport bumper...paint it gray or black and put it on my truck...**** my bumper already messed up so why not?

What the work involved for me to do so?
