OK guys I know there has to be something better than the Stant crap you buy at all the chain stores... Can anyone help me with something better?

My truck likes to eat at least one Stant a year......

Thanks

Michael

I swapped my last year with a hypertech. went with them because I was buying
other aftermarket parts and it was only another five bucks to add it to my order. Did you
grind the tab off the metal flange that holds the thermostat down? If you do then you can
pull the thermostat without taking anything else off.

did you try the Super-Stant. its about $10 and has more material than the $5 one, If you've already tried that you might try one from the dealer. Also, rockauto.com has one from Gates.

They're probably all made in the same place. lol.

How do you like the hypertech one? I know its a stat and there is nothing to tell. Does it work ok? What degree did you go with? Does your heater heat pretty quick? I have a 180 waiting to go on. I used to have almost instant heat. I hope I don't lose that

Stant crap? Stant is one of the best on the market and always has been. Seems to me there's an underlying issue if your truck "eats at least one" every year.

I went through two Hyperstats from Hypertech in about 2 yrs. Now I have one from Napa (which I have always trusted in the past for t-stats), and it has been fine now for going on 1 year.

I have a question, I added my 180 t-stat about a month ago. Cab gauge would just get above 130, but now its right back where it used to be. halfway between 130 and 210. My temp guage on my rad says im running between 80 and 100. So im confused.

I'm still on my Factory thermostat, and it's working just dandy.

Honestly it seems alright, nothing special. Seems to work fine. Went with a 180*. Heat is
not what it used to be, thinking about switching back to a 195* for the winter but I'm not
sure I can do that with the supercharger on there. I would suggest cutting that tab I was
talking about so you can switch them out when the weather gets cold. I'm talking outside
temps like 15* and lower. Honestly like I said, I only went with the hypertech because it was
the same price as the rest and I already had an order coming in.

Had a hypertech. Was actually installed upside down by the shop and worked perfectly at 180 deg. Then one day it wouldn't heat up. Had a stant installed at a different shop and works well. In the winter, it takes a long time to warm up so I fabbed up some cardboard behind the grille and that seems to help. Once its warm, it stays at 170-180 all day and heat is nice and warm. Oh, and the only reason I switched it in the first place was to help with ping and performance. Not because it was shot.

Mohawk, what exactly is your question? Does it not heat up in the cab?
