I'm 99% sure and hoping 100% that no ***** will fall out because I'm pulling mine out and it's something I've never done. Pulling the valve body out is like I'm jumping in the deep end on the first day of swim class.

there are check valve ***** in the VB. Here's a general Idea of where they go:

http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/TransgoRev2.pdf

page 3-4 is what you want.

Thanks!

So, it looks like we won't loose our ***** just taking the valve body off. True?

hopefully not, but there's a lot of little parts in there to keep track of. Best to have a map handy if you're diving into the unknown.

I just rebuilt my transmission and then had to turn around and take the valve body out seperately (and have to remove my trans again). It seems on my rebuild, one of the seal rings on the oil pump snapped and clogged up my valve body. There are about 8 check ***** in the valve body, but they all stay put unless you tear the valve body apart. (The actual body has about 3 main pieces).

As far as the snap ring you found, You may or may not have to rebuild the entire trans if you don't want. My seal ring on the oil pump just needs to be replaced so I am going to drop the tranny again and just pull the oil pump, replace the ring, and re-assemble. While your in there though, in my opinion, you might as well throw a shift kit in it.

You will not loose any check ***** by pulling the valvebody out. That snap ring you found most likey goes to the overdrive unit. Ive seen them break and end up in the pan a few times.

If your talking about the 3-4/OD shift solenoid, then yes. You'll have to drop the valve body to change it.
