Dual Exhaust or single

RE: Dual Exhaust or single
I prefer the look of the Dual Exhausts and I like the Flowmasters a lot and they seem to be the exhausts of choice. I also like the Magnaflows. I wouldn't go with a single exhaust as I don't think they look right but thats just my opinion. I like the dual exhausts that come out each side before the wheel a lot then also like the ones that come out the side after the rear tires and if I couldn't get one of those I would run the pipes straight out the back but I don't know if I would add a single exhaust. I like the coming straight out the back but everybody and there brother has one now so I like the other two better.

Here's a question, mostly for Steve. are your duals true duals, or do then come together to a single cat and then split into a dual cat-back? I'm thinking I'm gonna do true duals with dual cats in 2-1/2" pipe. I'm hoping the lack of a balance pipe creates enough extra pressure to keep the torque, but the 2-1/2" pipe increases the flow to match an increased intake flow... What do you think?

I think your gonna loose low end torque... from what I understand, true dual's is for upper rpm HP, with a truck your size, i'd bet your gonna hate it. when I put the single 3"in dual 2.5" out flowmaster KIT on mine, I lost so much low end torque that my gas milage dropped about 1~1.25 mpg. I found that I was always down shifting to get going to the speeds that I like to drive (my driving style). once I did the 2.25 reduction on the flowmaster outputs, I had a significant amount of low end torque come back which brought my mpg back up about 1.25~1.5.
What I'd do... is get your true dual outs setup for 2.25" diam on the output of the muffler and leave the diameters of everything from the head to the muffler the same or slightly less. otherwise I think your gonna loose too much low end torque.

I've mostly worked with Chevys. I know with the Gen II 350, a balance tube will absolutely kill the torque, and 2-1/4" pipes will kill the power, but true dual 2-1/2" is perfect for them. Was hoping the 360 would be similar since it's a comparable size. Looks like it isn't.

all I can say is try it... then you'll be the expert and can guide all of us... if no one tries it... how will we know?
I say if it worked on your chevy, duplicate it on your truck and see how it does. I know if I had more time and resources to get it done, I'd try it for sure...

oh yeah, another thing... I try to find a balance between low end torque and upper end power... it's like a teeter totter one goes up, the other goes down, finding the right combo is the hard part... my current setup is pretty good for an overall balance and the only thing I'd do is to add those damn 1.7's sitting in the closet.
