Unhappy HID conversion help

ok so i got my HID conversion kit in. my headlight plug has 3 prongs and my HID hit has 2 prongs well the way the kit is, you hook up your headlight plug to the balast buton that plug you have to put 2 wires in the female end and its got a spot for three. the stock wire colors are red and 2 pruples and one purple has a red stripe so i hooked the red to the red and the black to the middle purple and it flickered and cut off. so i unpluged the black and hooked it to the other purple and it wouldn't even come on. so botoom line is i can get it to flicker but not come on and stay on. does anyone know what i need to do?

Use a relay. Your headlight circuit cannot safely supply the initial surge current.

Well yeah...

It must be only a low beam kit because low high kits come with relay harnesses.

You need something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...3A1|240%3A1318

It is a thicker set of wires for your headlights and has a built in relay. This helps handle to large initial demand for power from the HID ignitor. Without one of these harnesses you run the risk of melting your stock wiring.
