I am running the Mobile 1 syn 5w-30. I wonder if this could cause any problems? The temperature in my area during the winter is usually around 45 degrees, but it varies.

The owner's manual calls for 10W30. You're running too thin an oil for the colder weather.

Man, I just changed the oil! I knew I should have checked, but I didn't have the manual with me. I have been running this weight since last spring. I hate to change it again, but it will be cheaper to do that than cause unneccesory wear on the engine.

The oil wants to be thinner like 5w-30 for the winter. That's what is in all my vehicles right now. Come spring when it starts getting above 60 degrees or so regularly , they will be changed to 10w-30. Of course it gets way colder that 45 , but it isn't going to cause any probs.

I run 10w-30 year around, although I used to do 5w-30 during the winter. Synthetic Mobil 1 or Royal Purple for me. Tried RP, no difference between it and Mobil 1 that I can tell (other than the color, that is).
