I think if you added one of those (oil coolers) with your large filter, you would be hitting the frame with the filter. IMHO I think its not really needed unless you were racing in the desert or something like that.

Im not real fond of connecting an oil cooler in that way anyhow.. I wouldn't buy one

whats the matter with fram filters? I have been using them for over 50,000 miles and have never had a problem...

 

They are not as good quality as K&N, WIX, Mobil 1, etc...

eh, I read it and it seems that the only real major drawback is the cardboard end cap material. I havent had a problem with them. Should I ever have a problem with them I will change back to wix. I used to run those all the time, but I had one split on a 1995 Chevy 1500.
EDIT: I use the tough guard type so that may be the difference.

 

People on the Mustang site I belong too always say they are made of cardboard and fall apart. I used to always use them. I since have started using the Mopar one on my truck. Its right around the same price at wal mart

 

I used to use the Mopar one for a while, too. I stopped and went back to K&N because I missed the ease of installing and taking off the filter. That little nut is the best idea yet. I wish a cheaper filter(like a Fram or a WIX filter) had that.

 

99% of the time i change them by hand. I dont need a little nut. I got big ones

 

The nut is a good idea, but everyone already has oil filter wrenches, so its whatever for me
