Are you sure the pump drive is engaged? I think you're going to have to take your pan off again.

yes, i did what i did not want to do and took the pan off and i found out why i was not getting any oil pressure.
the pump housing where the shaft goes in was shattered
i guess Auto Zone gave me a bad pump
so back to a different auto store and getting a new pump
and hopefully it will work this time

eeee, that dont sound good, did you turn it to make sure it was loose b4 you installed it? best of luck too ya......thouroughly clean it and get all metal pieces out

yes i turn the pump when i was priming it before install
but now i got a new one and it idles at a steady 35psi or so. with 10w-30

There is a theory about using HV pumps in stock applications. When you use an HV pump with a stock size oil pan (small sump), it will pump all the oil into the heads so fast it will starve itself, the oil cant run back into the sump fast enough. unless you use a coating in your lifter valley and have cleaned out oil return holes, there really isnt anything wrong with an oem pump
