Default Another 14x3 filter question

Okay this is the last one from me, I promise. I just want to be sure that I'm getting a filter that will fit in the air hat. Is this the combo that I need?

K&N filter-http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=E-3027R

Mopar performance air hat-http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=P5249807&x=24

Nope, those will not work together. The Mopar assembly does not take a 14" x 3" filter. It takes a 12.75" x 2.75" filter. The only K&N filter that comes close (but is not a perfect fit) is part # 1530. It is 12.50" x 2.75" Or you can try part # 1535, which is 12.50" x 2.89", but will be a much tighter fit under the cowl.

If you really want to run a K&N 14x3 filter, you have to get some other assembly then the Mopar one.

silver, what set up are you running? I looked at your cardomain site and it says that you have the mopar assembly and a K&N filter. What size filter do you have? So can I make part #1530 work with the mopar assembly? Thanks again

The one I had in the pictures on my car domain was a 13" x 2.75", but it really didn't fit good, kept popping out. I tried the 1530, but didn't like how it looked (but yes, it will work if you want to run it). I now run the paper filter like that came with the kit. Purolater makes it, and replacements can be found at autoparts stores that sell Purolator. I like how it performs.

I've noticed that since I have been running only the paper filters, my intake and TB are much cleaner then when I had the K&N FIPK or the K&N round filter. Paper filters actually filter better then K&N type filters anyway. Just doesn't flow as much air is all. K&N type filters were originally created for racing applications where better air flow was needed, but longevity wasn't as important. This meant that it was ok if some small particles that are usually trapped by a paper filter got through the oiled filter (talking microscopic sizes here) as long as more air was getting through. But for longgevity, the more you filter, the better.

Also, I noticed no difference between the K&N filter and the paper filter in my setup.

I've got the Mr Gasket and 14x3 K&N...tight tight fit! I am almost thinking of taking a lost and getting a 14x2.5 or something...pain in the tail to clean when I have too!

Don't buy the K&N filter. Get the AEM Dryflow. It is the same thing except it filters better (according to testing) and DOES NOT have to be oiled after you wash it. They make it in the 14x3 size and sell it at Jeg's.

How does everyone elses 14X3 fit, because mine has a drop on it to make it fit, but the only problem with it is that I had to modify some of the throttle cable linkage(cut off all the extra metal around it) to be able to get it to set down, and it still wont completely set on top... I still have to get it to lay down flat on there so that Im not pulling in all kinds of dust.
