How was your day?
yeah. i totally agree.. they passed a law in pa saying we have to wear the belts.. however cops dont seem to bother with it.. my uncle who is a cop said its just a pain in the a** to pull someone over for a seatbelt.. and he also said if they wana fly 500 feet let em. idk i havent worn a seatbelt since the day i started driving.. only time i did was for my test. still havent had any issues with mr. pig. maybe you all should move to Pa haha
well considering that when the car was hit, it knocked a hole in the gas tank, so in that case I would have much rather to be ejected from the car rather than be tied up in a car that was hot and was leaking gas.
EDIT: I know other states is a lot more strict than MO is on their seat belt laws. When the law was being voted on, it barely pasted. Most of our cops dont even wear their belts either. That being said, you really have to **** our locals off to get a ticket over not wearing one.

Like I said, the cop that pulled me over, was just being an a** and wanted any excuse he could have to give me a ticket. I dont even know what I did for him to feel that way... maybe there was a competition between him and the other 3 motorcycle cops sitting there to see who could give out more bulls*** tickets in a day. Yeah, there were 4 of them sitting in the same spot, real good use of our police dept...right... fricken slacker cops, I like some cops, but not the ones who go out all day trying to enforce stupid laws instead of actually trying to find something that is dangerous, you know, sitting on a public corner with 3 others focusing on people without seatbelts on instead of out seperated on different streets looking out for the guy driving recklessly around a neighborhood with children playing on the streets. I think there are to many cops out for themselves instead of out for bettering our streets and homes, takes them 2 seconds to pull me over for no seatbelt, but 3 days to respond to the theft of a $10k 1.3 carat diamond engagement ring.
Presenting the other side of the argument, the seat belt laws are there to try to protect idiots who don't wear them.
It has been proven time and time again that seat belts save lives. Sure, "live free or die", but when you get married or enter into a long-term relationship of any sort, its not about just you anymore. And to continue by the "live free or die" motto at that point is downright selfish and pretty liberal minded.
Is it the government sticking their noses into our business? Sure. Is it a necessary evil in this case? Yes.
Granted, the fines can get pretty ridiculous, but some sort of fine is necessary IMO.
My wife, a RN at one of the local hospitals, works in the ICU. She sees countless people come in who were ejected from their cars, and end up paralyzed or dying because they weren't wearing their seat belts.
The most recent story was a couple who had been married a total of one week. He was driving, she was riding shotgun. They got into an accident, rolled the car. He was wearing his seat belt, he only had a few minor scrapes and bruises. She wasn't wearing her seat belt and got ejected, did something to her spine up just below the neck. She is paralyzed from the neck down now for the rest of her life.
