I have used SC for about a year now and mainly run on performance level and run 93octane...I do notice a difference in gas mileage..Before SC i was getting 7-8mpgs...now i get 12-13 and on the highway i get 15 unloaded..... and on the death flash..i know what you are talking about..i had a war with the local dealership because i replaced the trany then had problems with it...the decided they needed to flash the computer..Then truck started running like crap...they kept trying to say they did not do anything but i knew better..they finaly admited to it and fixed it...

You know another thing I forgot to mention earlier about the gearing, was that, beyond a peformance gain, it's a great way to save wear and tear on the transmission. Running a larger sized tires with stock gearing puts a lot more work on the transmission. If your set on the superchip, that's cool, but I just think gearing is not only going to give your pedal some raw zip, but it's going to treat your drivetrain too.

But those updated tunes may be worth it (I hear they take the dodge updates and re-work their programs but that may not be true as I can't seem to find it again.) Also you might be able to get the Mileage XS tune which would be what I am after anyway. Eitherway I still am keeping my eye open for a 3815.

For a reputable 4.10 ring and pinion set from randy's ring and pinion, they go for about $295. So it's about $600 for both differentials. Now if you don't know how to install the gearing yourself, some shops can charge anywhere from $300-500 for installation per axle. So yes, it is expensive. I was lucky and knew a mechanic that was willing to come to my house and help me out for mega cheap, and did a carrier swap for only $80. But split it up if you don't know someone, buy the gears, then save up for the install. So yes having both differentials upgraded is about the price of an SCT tuner, you have to pick what you want. If you aren't running oversized tires, then I'd put my money into a SCT. But if I had oversized tires, I'd want to make sure my gearing was correct before I was trying to push any performance out of my drivetrain.
