Knocking noise somewhere between engine and transmission

Love this one. I just replace my Engine on my Dodge 1500
I have replaced Flexplates that have cracked at the hub. Sometimes when the transmission is installed, either at the factory or privatly, a peice of wire loom or wire or something gets pinched between one corner of the engine block and the bell housing of the transmission. This makes for a bit of an angle that, when the TC is bolted up, the flexplate has to make up for. this sounds minimal, but remember that it is turning hundreds of thousands of times per day, when its distorted and has a bit of stress applied to it, it will eventually crack. it makes almost the same knocking noise as a bearing in the engine.
Good Answer!!!
I just replaced My engine into My dodge Ram 1500 and have that same tapping sound, in park mostly, sometimes in Drive and Never in neutral.
Thank you For this I will look into it first thing tomorrow.

i can tell you this.
When my tranny went it turned out that it was the torque converter that actually went first, firing all sorts of broken pieces of metal in to the tranny which caused that damage.
So lucky me i had to replace both.
I would say take it to a tranny shop a.s.a.p and see what they say, but i would not be driving it around much to be honest, you could be spitting peices of metal in the tranny with every drive you take.
