Knocking noise somewhere between engine and transmission

maybe my torque converter has a problem.. or is loose.. or one of the bolts is coming out

Well you can check that by removing the inspection plate.

U think it could be a big deal? everything works great its like its stuck in 2nd and then has to forcefully go into nutral.

I just replaced My engine into My dodge Ram 1500 and have that same tapping sound, in park mostly, sometimes in Drive and Never in neutral.
Thank you For this I will look into it first thing tomorrow.

No offense, but you contradicted yourself there. Everything isn't working great if it gets sort of stuck in 2nd.

i can tell you this.

When my tranny went it turned out that it was the torque converter that actually went first, firing all sorts of broken pieces of metal in to the tranny which caused that damage.

So lucky me i had to replace both.

I would say take it to a tranny shop a.s.a.p and see what they say, but i would not be driving it around much to be honest, you could be spitting peices of metal in the tranny with every drive you take.

I have a 98 dodge 1500 w a 360 auto and i have the same sound that started today.
