when i put in a wheel bearing, i replaced the nut, because the reason the wheel bearing turned into a grenade, literally, dad and i f***ed up the hub nut and stub shaft's threads by not knowing it was a left hand thread, when we were doing a U Joint

the whole nut fell off and the bearing just came undone

but as far as torque goes, i just tighened it up till the bearing wouldn't turn easily then i backed it off some, and checked it for a about a week, now it is just fine

so which thread are these nuts i've heard left and right handed from different people..when i took mine off i went with regular threads...but i also have to use oxy/acy torch and 6 foot cheater to get it off....then had to buy new stub and nut.
im sure most of you have seen this site but they got good deals on axles and balljoints and stuff alike.. http://quad4x4.com/DodgeParts.htm
the nuts are a good deal 25 for both with washers

His last post makes it sound like it's a 4wd. I didn't know in 2001 Dodge changed to a 4wd style hub for the 2wd trucks. Maybe some one with a 2001 2wd can chime in.

Any clearer now? He's got a 2wd but only the 4wd procedure is covered in the manual.

I'm not surprised the manual doesn't mention the nut size ... they usually won't. But the torque spec? That's really strange. No table of torque specs anywhere in the book?
