Lift with 33in tires
What's native to your area? That's the best bet. Everyone down here uses Bermuda or St. Augustine ... both imports. They turn brown in the winter and are very drought sensitive (have to be watered a LOT). Buffalo Grass is native so it needs very little care to survive. Whatever is native to you should grow like a weed.
Whats native in my front yard is mud and moss has been like that the 10yrs I have lived here. The direction of the sun has a large part in it as well. My ouse block most of it and than the trees in the summer finish it off. Than add the log and the mess that falls of them its tuff. Had it growing good once but than it die within like 8-10 weeks. Idk why but it did I had my 60 yr grandfather jellious at me cause my lawn was better than his lol.
I run 35x12.50 ProComp Xterrains and the wear is great I've put 10k on them and they haven't shown signs of wear yet and I've done quite a few massive burn outs. AND they make some pretty good noise tooo. ProComp Xterrains have won me over and thats the tire that I'm gonna stick with.
