Question Lift with 33in tires

Does anybody have any pictures with our dodges lifted 5 inches with 33 inch tires on? I want to get a 5 inch lift, but i don't have enough money to get 35 inch tires and rims at the same time. It may be a year later before i could get the tires and rims. Is it also dangerous to drive with 33inch tires with a 5 inch lift?

Honestly, if you don't have enough money to get the 35's, then you probably don't have enough money to get 4.56 or 4.88 gears you will need to go with the 35's either. So you might better hold off on the lift until you can do it all. Otherwise, your truck will be a dog, you won't enjoy driving it, and you'll be stressing out the drivetrain.

That said, here is a picture of my truck with 6" lift and 285/70/17 (basically 33" tire). It looked pretty goofy, especially in the rear. With 5" lift, it might not be as bad, and if the 33's you are talking about are 33x12.50 (instead of a 285), the extra width might make it less goofy.

I agree with Silver.

What are the specs on your truck? What size motor does it have, and do you know what gearing it has? It most likely will have 3.55 gearing. And what size wheels do you have? Are you bent on getting the 5" lift? If you aren't, why don't you go with something you can afford. Maybe a 3" Skyjacker lift and some 33/12.5s (305s). Hometheaterman runs a 3" skyjacker lift with 305s on 16x10 wheels, and it looks quite nice. A 305 is a big tire, but you could probably get away with 3.55 gearing.

Just something to think about.

My truck has a 3" suspension and 3" body lift.

Heres a pic with stock off road wheels and 305/70/17 (34x12) MTR's

Heres one with 33x12.5's on 15x10 wheels.

Olyelr, is there a reason why you chose to go with 33" tires on such a big lift? Generally you see guys throwing 35" tires on once they get to the 5"+ lift stage. I don't think it looks bad, but just wanted to know if you had a particular reason.

Gearing. I originally fitted my truck with 36x14.5 mickeys baja belted's(hence the reasoning for my 12" wide wheels) but I couldn't stand it with 3.92's. So then I tried a 35" bfg (slightly smaller/lighter tire) but still hated it. So now I just stop at 33's... at least until I can afford to swap in 4.56's or 4.88's. I don't even like it with these 305/70/17 MTR's I have now which actually measure 34x12. Its OK, but not quite what I want.

Although I like a good looking truck, I much rather prefer function over looks. People who slap a set of 38's on a truck with stock gears just "cause they can fit them" bothers the crap out of me.

The gearing would be great. But why not just get 265/75's? I bet they would be cheeper than 255's.

Cause my dads old truck he got these weird tire chains there called super z's. the biggest I can run with them is 255/70 on 16. and the 265 where like 10 buck more. But if I ever wan to use them (the night I hit that chick in the snow) I cant run that big of a tire. I can run 245/75/16. But I want something wider and there right abou the same height. you know any websites that have detroit gears? I should probly get a new locker. My 3.55 is starting to **** out I think. How do I know for sure?
