Heads came in yesterday
I got a set of stockers from Clearwater Heads on ebay last year about this time, really good guys, and they have good stuff.
aim, you've been around long enough, you wont have any problems with these. Maybe a little PB on the exhaust manifold bolts, or anything else you might find that is sticky over time, to help make the tear-down easier. I ended up putting some RTV on my head bolts when they went back in, havent had a single bit of issue in 10k miles since I did the replacement.
Thank god Dodge Trucks have a ton of room in the engine compartment with the fan shroud removed, you can stand in there and do most the work!

also if it was me i would do the pass side frist to learn on, because theres more room and the learning curve will help on the drivers side
good luck

I got the 1.92 heads off them. I paid what you paid so yeah you got a steal. I called them a couple times with questions as well. Bob wasn't the biggest help on some of the questions I asked. He switched me over the the guy that built mine for me and he answered everything I needed.
LOL, I learned the first one the hard way, I'll trust you on the second.
Anybody know what the thread is on the head bolts? I thought about using some longer lengths of all-thread in a couple bolt holes as lowering guides, inserting and loosely tightening the other bolts to hold the heads in place and then pulling the all-thread with some pliers so I could lower the heads onto the gasket with no slippage, but I don't know the thread count. I figure the head gaskets will get a better silicone seal around the water jacket if I don't move them around.
Did you get a full dressed set of heads? Springs, valves, new valve guides (bronze is good), valve seats, retainers? It would be a good time to inspect the lifters for abnormal wear and to inspect cam lobes for any also. Might as well throw a cam in while your in it!
When you put your heads on, the head pins will hold it in place so you can start your bolts, and clean up any excess crap thats in your way. TAKE YOUR TIME tighting it up. Start in the center and work your way out going 20 ftlb at a time until you get around 105ftlbs. Have fun, wish I could come over with a 12 pack and join in!!
