Default Nerf Bar Installation

quick question

I am trying to install nerf bars on an 01 dodge ram 1500 quad cab and I cannot seem to get the 4 bolts on the underside off...they don't appear to be too rusted or anything and thus far i have only tried it with a 16'' ratchet...these bolts aren't welded in are they? my next step was to rent an impact wrench and go to town, but I just wanted to check first...

thanks

Default Bars

It isn't real dangerous to take them off is it? Like the truck isnt going to fall apart if I do right?

I have very little knowledge on auto repair/modification so my questions may seem retarded haha.

I did mine in the winter of 2007. I had to use a breaker bar and a cheater bar to get them to move. It takes some time to get them lose but after you do that for a while they start to go and you can use a ratchet.

Make sure your on some what level ground and just do one bolt at a time. Thats what I did with mine. I mean don't take all four of them off at the same time just incase something happens.

you can take all four of them off at the same time on a steep hill if you want. its not gonna fall off cab weighs more than about 6 people can handle. they are easy to put on i did mine by myself.

Just did mine last weekend. Just used a regular ratchet for mine. Guess all those steroids are paying off!
