I wouldnt do that. I dont know where you have to park, but where I am, I have seen several people slam their doors into the side of my truck. If that molding wasnt there I would have dents all over the place.
Also, that molding saved me quite a good deal of money when a little pontiac sunfire backed into me at a gas station one morning.

 

I took mine off my bed. Its useless there.
