Default Hard shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd

Have some shifting issues. I did a search all in the forum, found some close issues, but little different. 1st of all, the truck is a 94 1500 4x4 with the 5.9l, 126k on the clock. I have only owned the truck for the last 3,000 miles. don't know the history prior. I notice that when I accelerate quicker, it shifts hard (like a clunk) from 1st to 2nd. From 2nd to 3rd, it is not as hard, but does feel hard. Now if I go easy on the acceleration (like a Grandma), it shifts smooth. The transmission fells strong, I think, but I am no expert.

Here is what I have done so far. Changed the fluid in the transfer case, had 15 qts changed from the trans (Jiffylub complete trans service). Added Lucas trans stabilizer.

One thing that I did notice, is I get a clunk shifting from rev to drive. So I do have a broken u-join. Can it be related? Don’t know. Any help will be appreciated

i see. not trying to derail but i recently broke my u joint and my truck was immobilized. i guess it is possible that a bad u joint could cause that but i really dont think that is the case. you could try to have the bands adjusted thats what i am goin to try on mine. also, did they do a tranny flush or did they change the filter?

Thanks for the response. I had a whole tranny flush that included the cooler and T.C.. That included a new filter as well. I dont think the Band were adjusted. I just googled how to do it, and of-course the pan needs to be droped again. I got maybe 100 miles on the truck since I had the Trans serviced.

cple things you can try to do on your own with outtaking it to a pro,,is try adjusting the bands, but first and foremost,,do a search and if your mechanically inclined the least bit,,you shld have no problems,,,also theirs adjusting the tv cable...try those 2 things cable first and see if it helps.
