I actually considered that stuff, read all about it, etc. I'm just not into ordering my oil and filter, and I can't find a vendor around anywhere. I like to be able to go pick it up right then, so I chose to go another direction. I have heard great things about the quality of Amsoil, though. I like changing my oil and feeling like it's fresh, so doing a once-a-year change bores me a little. Last time I changed it I put in the Mobil 1 Extended life, which is 15K/1 yr, and I have been itching to change it.

I really like doing oil changes and feeling its fresh , I change it once a month. Ive been switching oil to see what one i like best, Penzoil plat, Mobile 1, Valvoline vr-1, Royal Purple, So far it seems i like Valvoline vr-1 the best, Even tho its non synthetic, i change it to often to really see a benfit of synthetic and my motor doesnt get hotter than 175 anyway. But thats just me and my extreme ocd.

That is way too much $$$ for me...that seems like a waste to replace a K&N every month. But at least you'll never worry about engine protection.

If you want to save 2 bucks, go with a Mobil 1 filter. It is usually cheaper by $2 and is the same thing as the K&N. Unless of course, the nut on the K&N is a major selling point *Raises Hand*, and your AutoZone carries both for the same price *Keeps hand up.* My AutoZone has both Mobil 1 and K&N oil filters for $11.99.

BTW the bigger K&N filter # is HP-3001.

That's pretty good...I think Advance here has the M1 for around $11 and the K&N is like $14.

Just slap a WIX or NAPA Gold filter on and call it a day.

Baldwin makes the K&N BTW. Least they did just 3 months ago.

Im a WIX man personally. I used to not care and use to buy fram. Well... after I have seen it happen three times where the PH16 filter gasket portion remains attached to the block after you remove the filter.... I think i'll pass on poor quality items. I've never had one problem what so ever with a wix filter and are only about $6. While it may be a dollar or two more expensive than fram, I perfer piece of mind.

I used to use Mobile 1 till walmart jacked the price of the 5qt. jug from $20 to $26. I now run Quakerstate HP or Torque because its 17 or 18 bux and full synthetic. Long as it is synthetic, I run it.
