I thought 89 was just 87 and 93 mixing at the pump?

It is.

sometimes I mix them separately so I don't have to buy a ****load of high dollar fuel. when my engine was pinging, It only took a little bit of 93 to get it to settle down like 1:5, unless I was trying to haul ***.

My truck gets worse milagae on anything other than the cheap stuff. The Jeep on the other hand, well I run that on the cheapest dirtiest crap I can find and it runs fine.

Yea I use it all the time now.
I have tried most of the brands out there, and it has been the best so far.
with conoco, Mobil, Chevron..... on and on, I was getting 10-11 MPG.
A new Shell station went in close to me a few months back and I decided give it a try. I started getting 11.5-12MPG. I actually made a mistake one day because this station is a little bit odd balled, but all the pumps are set up in this order: 87 89 91 Diesel, except for one pump which was all backwards, 91 89 87 then Diesel. I ended up running 91 through and got 13.7 MPG.
Now that they have started to run the N enriched gas, I get around 13-15 MPG. Thats on 89.
Shells claim on the N enriched gas is it is supposed to help clean the combustion chamber. Whether or not this is BS or not, I dont know. I do know that I can now get 13-15MPG with my lead foot, so I am a very happy dodge owner.

EDIT: Here is some info from Shell on their N "Search and Destroy" gunk cleaning system:

www.shell.com

We've made a great product even better!

The experts at Shell have found a way to destroy gunk with all three grades of Shell gasoline! Every drop of Shell gasoline contains a NEW Nitrogen Enriched cleaning system that seeks and destroys engine gunk in both conventional and modern engines. There's nothing else like it!

What makes NEW Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines even better?
A unique, patented, improved formula exclusive to Shell designed to seek and destroy engine gunk.
Acts as a barrier to help keep your engine clean and protect it from performance-robbing gunk even better than before.
Helps protect and clean critical engine parts in all three grades of Shell gasoline with the most advanced Shell technology ever.
Helps improve engine performance as you drive.
Has been extensively tested, clocking more than a half-million miles in various engines and vehicles, covering a wide range of conventional, modern turbo-charged, direct fuel- injected and hybrid engines.

Accordng to Chilton it looks like my V10 is running 8.4:1 compression so yeah I will be fine with the 87.

That seems weird to me that low of comp on what I thought was suppose to be a high performance engine, but I guess it works.

No one is getting 20mpg in a full size Second Gen. I think I've eeked out the best on this forum when I rebuilt my 5.2L and was getting 16.5mpg on the Interstate carrying no cargo.
