dont mean to jack your thread or anything, but i've been having the SAME EXACT problem and its been no **** plaguing me forever. it's driving me insane. it's gotten to the point where now, instead of it just doing it in the rain or when its wet out, it does it all the time. and it's idleing bad as well. i just got done replacing the dist. cap, rotor button and wires. none of those made a bit of difference. the only thing i have to go off of is my check engine light comes on after a while and i took it to the mech. to get it read, and it came up code 21 (cyl. 8 low compression?). idk if that would be the problem or not. any other ideas as to what this problem could be?

Coil ... wanna see something cool? Wait until after dark, start 'er up with the hood open and mist the motor really good. Watch the light show.

Wait ... mist it first ... then start it ... I've heard it can knock your d1ck in the dirt if it's leaking (electrically) really bad.

I would be willing to bet that you are getting water into the cap and rotor, all it takes is a bit to really make a difference, my JEEP dose this when I am hitting mud holes unless I keep the RPM's up. if you are the type to run mud alot there are ways to water proof your cap and rotor. The shit of it is that the way these motors were desinged it is not practical to check, I would advise that you look up the wayd to water proof it and then see if it continues.

Like I said originally, it only does it in the rain and if I pop it in Neutral it revs right up without hesitation. It is only when it is in a drive gear that it does it (and it seems to be at lower speeds too). Could this just be because of the load on the engine? Would moisture in the distributor cap really cause it to bog out in gear and run fine in Neutral or Park?

well, the same thing WAS happening to me like i said. i thought it was moisture in the dist cap as well, but it does it now while its dry out. so thats not what the problem is. i replaced the cap, rotor button, and wires. nothing worked.

Are you thinking "Coil"?

You should ... coil ... coil ... coil ... coil ...

So, this may sound dumb, but I thought vehicles either had distributors or coil packs? Aparently not, but anyways, how many does the 360 have?

Ahh, I think I figured it out. Does the coil control the spark pulse that goes to the distributor and the distributor cap and rotor control (in a sense) what cylinder gets the spark?

I was looking on AutoZone's site at how to stuff and it said "coil locations" and I got confused and then I realized the diagram they have is for a V10 and is different then the V8.

I have just one coil, right?
