Default OK That is enough

OK

Problem 1- Tranny sliping
Problem 2- Lost 4wd
problem 3- Abs and break light on
Problem 4- Check engine light came on now

Im getting mad at this dumb truck. I like the truck but at this point its like its going through a midlife crisis. @#$% i hate this. I get done with one project and a new one comes up.

Anyone have a problem like this with there truck. If so what did you do sell it repair it or crash it and make it look like someone elses fault and get insurance money

I feel like taking apart the dash and breaking the bulbs for the Check engine, Abs, and Break light then getting the tranny to stop slipping long enough for me to trade it in

Well, with any luck the new truck you buy wont be from someone who did what you were just explaining

Seriously though, I understand all the frustration that comes with vehicles (I got a Dodge too, HA), but don't go about it like that. Tackle the problems, get it fixed the right way, and feel the satisfaction from it. Don't give up on the ol' girl now.

On the sunny side of things, some of those problems might be related. For example, the CEL might have something to do with the tranny slipping, so instead of two problems, you might actually still have just the one.

The ABS thing might be a simple sensor that needs replacement.

Like olyelr said, don't give up on her yet.

I understand your pain.
I brought home my second dodge truck one week ago today and am wondering why.

The first was a about a 4 year old dakota I had for a year, great truck.
So when I had a chance at this '01 2500 v10 I thought cool.

Now I think "what have I done?". After spending a week on the forums.

Go to a Toyota or jeep forum and you wont see all the posts like yours.

Sure they brake things and things wear out, but you dont see all the posts of things simply failing all the time especially after being replaced and or upgraded!

Its hard to decide to go ahead and fix the problems I have. If I know it will be a good truck, of course I would do it.

But after a week of reading about other peoples Rams, I'm afraid I might just be throwing money away.

It might be cheaper for me to GIVE it awayright now than try and "upgrade" all those little parts that Dodge should have done in the first place.

Welcome to what I like to call "American Made Truck Ownership".

I still won't buy anything else

Don't let this place scare you, man. I did the same thing when I traded my Frontier and first came in here...left me thinking, oh crap, what have I done?! But just take care of it, realize it is getting older, and replace stuff before it goes bad and causes other things to fail. I agree, they don't make 'em like they used to, but it isn't as bad as this forum sometimes makes it seem.

+1 ... you have to realize that damned near every person come here because they had a problem that they were having trouble fixing. Most get it figured out and you never hear from them again. Some hang around 'cause they like the atmosphere. Others just enjoy ragging on Purpl.

How many people are here just to say, "I've got a Ram, too. It's perfect"? Exactly none.

Hang in there ... it gets better.

Hang in there bro.

We all gotta go through trouble with our trucks, they're 8-15 years old.
I've put most of my small paychecks from the grocery store into my truck, everytime I fix another problem, and put more money into it, then get to look at my tiny bit improved Ram like a proud parent.
Plus it makes my woman pay for more things on our dates

Had the same feeling with my 01 Ram, thought seriously of getting rid of it as recently as last weekend. Test drove a 06 F250 with the V-10, 05 F150 with the 5.4. Didn't come away thinking either was going to be better then what I had, (when you factor in the price's were double what my ram was).

Honestly, part of why it's so hard to part with my truck is knowing when I do have problems I have a full factory repair manual (from this site), and can't count how many searches I've done to solve little quirks.
