Default Anyone Have This Problem??

I have a 99 Dodge Ram reg cab short box 4x4 sport 5.9 360, i was in some mud the other day and noticed a click click click almost snappy like sound, so I put the truck back in 2 wheel drive and left, i checked the truck out and I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary, so i took it to the shop was told i need new U joints so i replaced the 2 driveshaft U joints and tie rod and tie rod end.
The truck still clicks best way to describe it is something snapping or binding? Now the truck does this in 2 wheel drive when turning left or right, and they sound greatly increases when in 4wd HI with even a slight turn (no sound when truck is at idle)
i also have a constant squeaking when driving, it doesnt sound like a belt its about from the middle to back of the truck.

Any Ideas??

Which U-joints did you replace did you check the ball joints when you were under it also did you take a look at the cardan joint to see if its dry or wore out?

Check the front driveshaft Cardan joint for the squeak. Only thing is about that, it shouldn't squeak when in 2wd. And as asked above which u joints were replaced? The front axlejoints or driveshaft front or rear? The clicking sounds like front axle joints.

Not the driveshaft u-joints ... the single cardan u-joints ... at the ends of the front axle.

The double cardan joint will squeak if the ball and socket have gone bad, due to the dust shield and seal going bad. But like I said, it is not going to squeak in 2wd. So without knowing what joints were actually replaced , I'd put my money on the front axle joints too.

So the axle joints were not replaced? I say don't take it back to that place. BTW, How much did they charge you if you don't mind me asking.

Zman, I did not get the axle joints fixed. For 2 U joints and the labour it was about $220.00 (Can).
These sounds wouldn't be coming from the transfer case would they? just curious
