Sideview Mirrors/Handles
I noticed that on the dodges; the side view mirrors, door handles, and tailgate latches are all in a satin finish. The satin just doesn't match very well with the shiny black paint. Does anybody know where I could find mirrors, door handles, and a tailgate latch in a painted finish? Or something that is paintable? I've asked several body shops if they could paint my existing handles and mirrors, but they said it's not a good surface to try to stick paint to.
you can take them off and sand them smooth.....i would go to another bodyshop and ask........street scene makes mirrors for our trucks and you can find cheap ones on ebay, but they dont even look decent enough to be tempting.....ive heard they are VERY bad quality and have distortion in the mirror
or.......you could get mirrors like mine and chrome handles......if thats your taste

Lots of places for mirrors online. I would avoid ebay cheapies, as mentioned, crap. Couple links below, do a search for others.

Smoothing the handles is a job you should try yourself. If uneasy about it, go to a wreckers or find a set of handles on ebay to use.
I painted my mirrors (Cal Vu SS/pwrd) and smoothed/painted a bunch of pieces same time. Used 220, 400 and 600 grit wetsanding the pieces. 2 coats of adhesion promoter/filler(rattle can), wet sanded, 2 coats of base (2part/touchup gun), wet sanded 1k grit, 2coats of clear(2part). When fully cured I buffed out all the pieces.
The smoothed ones look excellant and all still just as good now. The textured ones, look ok, should of smoothed them too. Had reactions with the overhead console & both the textured pieces(airbag cntrl cover/pwr distribution cover).
Tip for handles, once you remove them, pull the handle up so its in the open postion. Then tie the back side mechanism so they wont close back up.(need 3hands) using a nylon pull tie. Farther its opened the better. Makes it easier sanding the hand cup & edge of the handle and is a must for painting them. Can sort of see what Im refering to in this pic, you can see the end of the tie for each

Takes time/patience & a good prep. The results can be excellant and save you a bunch of money and give you the satifaction of saying you did it yourself
I get my paint supplies from an automotive paint supplier across from my work. Ive used Eastwoods a bunch of times (all pwdr coating related) and they have anything related to vehicle restoration. Very fast, reasonable prices. Quick search will find you more paint suppliers.

heres some of the black square ones........go to around 1:00 for a good front shot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiCk8OhRT_c
thx
no no, the overhead was smoothed completely, had to redo it once (reaction)
airbag control cover was textured, I ended up redoing it 3x before it was good. It was begging to be smashed beyond recongition lol. Different plastic, didnt like the promoter/filler
01 mirrors are tricky, dont think I would want to smooth/paint those ones either tbh. More time to sand them cause of the curves and if the promoter or paint or clear had issues, they take longer to strip back down. Gloss black shows flaws so cant rush things.
