It would be hard for me to make large, legally obligated monthly payments on a "stock" truck for the next 5 years!!! Not to mention the additional insurance cost...

Think about it...
If a new stock truck costs you say $25k to $30k. The first thing you're going to want to do is modify it, which costs even more, but you can't because for the next 5 years all of your spending cash is going towards payments and insurance. So, you'll be driving around in a new stock truck that you're not completely happy with and chomping at the bit waiting to be able to afford the extras you really want 5 years from now.

Now, if you actually like the style of the truck you already own, and spend the same money (we'll stick with the $25k to $30k and leave out all of the additional insurance costs to keep things simple) into modifying it to EXACTLY what you want as you would for a new stock truck, think about the results you could end up with and the kick-a** monster you would be driving around in!!!

Now, decide which you would be happier with, and the decision will be a more realistic and less "spur-of-the-moment" one. That's my lengthy $.02 for you to think about...

Ron I couldn't have said it better myself.

Wayne, I'm glad your keeping your truck. It's a very nice truck and it would be a shame for you to get rid of it after all the money you have invested in it. And the main thing is its paid for. There is no other feeling like knowing your truck is paid for. Kudos on the decision.

As for 01DodgeRam360... well it sucks to see that you are selling your truck. Its a super cool looking truck. I tip my hat to you for the work you have put into this truck and the way you have turned it around. Good job, and I hope you enjoy your next truck.

You guys all kick *** that's for sure!

My biggest problem is that I spend too much money on my truck. That's the thing, if I get a new truck, I have to resist doing what I always do, which is put more money into it than what the vehicle is even worth. I know if I got a new truck, I'd want limo tint all around, and a flowmaster cat back exhaust. Other than that, I have to stay committed to not spending all of my hard earned money into vehicles anymore, it just doesn't work well with me. Buying a newer truck will save face on anything that could go wrong with my Ram, and help establish my first serious loan.

If you get a new one...you'll get the mod bug again... After all you've done to your rig, do you know how insanely hard it will be to not do stuff to your new one??? I couldn't do it...

Wayne, nice to see you are keeping it. Saw pics of yours early on when I joined this forum, and thought it was a nice looking rig. When my truck started acted up this spring, thought about getting rid of it seriously, and leather seats/moon roof were high on my wish list for a new truck. After driving newer trucks, just couldn't pull the trigger on switching. It was impossible to justify pulling 5k out of my checking account, and $300 a month for 5 years for a truck with a couple more options then mine.

Ram360, I really hope you don't regret the choice you are making in a year. I don't know how old you are, seem kinda young, but from an outsiders view, think you're making a mistake. It's your life, your decision, but to say if not for the tranny issue, you'd keep it....well you no longer have a tranny issue. Why you are spending 15k more on a new plain truck to overcompensate for the 15k you've already spent on your Ram is beyond me. You have a truck that looks awesome. Find a good shop to do your repairs and start saving up for your house man. I'm 35, wish the hell I wouldn't have kept switching vehicles when I was in my early 20's because they broke down here and there. God knows how much money I'd have banked....

I know my Ram isn't perfect. Got a creak I can't figure out of the life of me, got a body guy jerking me around about fixing my bit of surface rust, and a rear 02 sensor that is on the verge of death....but it's paid for. Who cares.

Hoping the stereo system will drown out the creak.

Seems to act up when it gets wet, not really worried about it right now. New sensor is cheap, just been waiting for a warmer weekend to get underneath it and figure it out. Once I read up on here what it actually does, figure it can wait until it's over 50 to mess with.

Really want out the creak before I get the system in, but since my amp is on indefinite back order, should get that figured out.
