Like 01DodgeRam360 I've also been thinking of selling my truck.

After driving newer trucks, just couldn't pull the trigger on switching. It was impossible to justify pulling 5k out of my checking account, and $300 a month for 5 years for a truck with a couple more options then mine.

Ram360, I really hope you don't regret the choice you are making in a year. I don't know how old you are, seem kinda young, but from an outsiders view, think you're making a mistake. It's your life, your decision, but to say if not for the tranny issue, you'd keep it....well you no longer have a tranny issue. Why you are spending 15k more on a new plain truck to overcompensate for the 15k you've already spent on your Ram is beyond me. You have a truck that looks awesome. Find a good shop to do your repairs and start saving up for your house man. I'm 35, wish the hell I wouldn't have kept switching vehicles when I was in my early 20's because they broke down here and there. God knows how much money I'd have banked....

I know my Ram isn't perfect. Got a creak I can't figure out of the life of me, got a body guy jerking me around about fixing my bit of surface rust, and a rear 02 sensor that is on the verge of death....but it's paid for. Who cares.

Hoping the stereo system will drown out the creak.
Ah! Lol. You sound just like my brother. He loves to play devil's advocate. He loves older trucks, like his and mine. It is so tough because I see how cool my truck is. I'm selling it privately to give me more time to think. If somebody makes an offer on it, I'll think hard on it, but I'm just trying to think it out right now.

If Subaru ever came out with a full size pick up I'd sell my truck and the Forestor in heart beat!

Have you gotten any offers on yours yet?

Not one darn call yet. Two of our staff sent me pictures of people that pulled in and looked at the truck, bet they never called me. So today I took off all the signs, and changed it all up. I put a FOR SALE sign on the side window with big numbers of the price of $7,900. Before you couldn't see the price unless you pulled over and looked at the truck. Now that the price is easy to see from the road, people that pull over will be people that are interested with knowing the price.

My friend is letting me test drive his 2005 Titan right now, so I'm going to see how that feels. I'm not a big fan of the Titans tiny axles, but I'd like to see how it shifts and how it moves.

Tiny axles? I researched them a lot because it was the truck I was going to buy if I sold my Ram, they'll do anything a Ford or Toyota will do. I'll be surprised if you are not impressed with the shifting and acceleration. Not sure on the ride though, one I was looking at had aftermarket rims/tires.

Hell I was in the same boat about selling my ram. I so wanted the new POWER WAGON w/ all the bells and whistle's and I was able to afford it w/ out the trade in. But I had decided against it because then I would have 2 trucks in the garage that I dont drive enough and the wife would be KICKING AND SCREAMMING that she wanted a new van. So instead took the extra money that would be a payment and doubled up on the bills and paying them off faster.

Sorry that you are selling your ram but I hope that it isn't more like peer pressure from your friends. yes a new truck is nice but a old truck has class and character.

It is a little bit of pressure I will admit. For whatever reason, people just don't really care for my truck. Part of liking a vehicle is your passengers liking the ride. I guess my truck doesn't really ride like anything special. It has all the great looks and sounds going for it, but the drive is far from anything superior. I mean, I just finished driving my friends Titan, and it was very pleasant. I didn't even need to think about driving, I'd look down and it was just coasting at 50mph. The exhaust sounded great too. I suppose I get a little bummed that my family kind of hates my truck. I know that if I got something a little more "practical" in the sense it had the ability to do highway driving, I'd have a little more respect. I feel like I could really be on top of my brother's status if I owned a new truck. They haven't really established any credit with the banks yet. I feel very mature dealing with all of the dealerships and banks on my own. I've grown up in a family business all of my life, so finding independence isn't easy. Not to mention, I'm a twin, so that makes sticking out even harder. I just feel like it'd be a nice attribute to me kind of branching out and doing something on my own...I don't know.

What other people think should have no input on what you drive or who you are. If you like it, keep it. When passengers have a complaint about what I drive, they are welcome to walk.

Don't compete with other people for status, your a college kid. You are years away from becoming the person you will ultimately be.
