Default Like 01DodgeRam360 I've also been thinking of selling my truck.

As many of you have probably gathered from a few of my other posts. I've also like him been thinking of selling my truck and getting something newer. Not sure what I would want however, I really like the new Suburban's and Tahoe's. At the same time I do not really want another American vehicle so that was really holding me back.

Well, I thought about it today some and have decided that I'm going to keep my truck.
As I've said many times the main thing holding me back has been that I have a ton of money into it and the amount I'd lose if I sold it. I just don't want to lose that much but I was seriously thinking about it.

All in all my truck runs great at least for now and I've replaced most of the major problems. I would like something newer. My truck has always gotten a ton of looks and compliments but I figure now that it's getting old it just looks like some POS lifted truck kind of like most of the old lifted trucks do.

Then I got to thinking about it and I don't really care what others thing. My truck is paid for and has been since I got it and is setup 90% how I want it setup. I do not want a car payment. If I got a new truck I doubt I'd do as many of the mods but I still don't know that I'd be happy with it. The only things I'd like to have that I don't are leather seats, maybe HID's(I don't care too much about this one), and tinted front windows to match my rears. I had the tinted front windows but it's been taking off due to a ticket. I'd like to get them maybe tinted lighter but who knows if I will. The HID's I could easily do and wouldn't have on a new truck anyway.

The only thing I'd gain with a new truck I want is leather seats.

The other thing about mine is it's got a dent in the passenger door. Not too bad but if you look you can see it from where the door got swung too far open and the hinge pulled a dent in it. Most everyone that I've showed it to has said they never saw it until I pointed it out. It's got a few others small dings and some scratches. So I figure not only is my truck old the body isn't perfect. Then I realized you know it's not bad either and being as we have a place in the mountain which is where it got half of it's scratches if not most. Even if I had a new truck sure the body would be in perfect shape for a few days but as soon as I took it up there which I will have to do it will start looking like my truck does now. Mine isn't bad by any means you can just see some imperfections once you get a foot away from it. From a couple feet back it looks great.

So really I'd not gain anything but leather seats and either a car payment or a huge chunk of change lost.

We also have other vehicles so while I drive my truck a lot since I like it I don't have to. I really only have it for when like I said we go into the mountains, it snows, I need to tow motorcycles or anything else on the trailer, or when I go hunting. I don't need a brand new truck for any of that as mine does it all great and better than I need it to.

Sorry this is soo long. I just figured I've got my truck setup mostly how I want so I don't want to start over and I could add the leather seats which is all I really want it doesn't have for a lot less than a years worth of car payments. I've also gotten most all the common stuff replaced. Not all but most so I've gotten most of the major problems out of the way so hopefully it should be good for quite a while. Unlike 01DodgeRam360 who still has a few problem he hasn't had and may soon have. I've already had them and fixed them.

I just think the only thing I'd gain by a new truck is like I said my leather seats and a huge car payment. I'd get a new looking vehicle sure but do I really need a brand new truck to go hunt on or take up in the mountains? No and in fact I'd be way more upset when I scratched it.

I realized mine does what I ask of it and at this point it would be cheaper to keep it and I don't need to worry about if others think it's stupid to have a truck this old. Not like the Accord is all that old since it's a 06 if I want to drive something newer and it does have the leather seats I want. I don't need a truck with them too. I don't know that I daily drive my truck as I split it up between the vehicles but I do drive my truck quite a bit and almost as a dd just because I like it. However, I don't have to and most of the stuff I love about it I wouldn't have on a new truck.

Plus I don't mind driving mine on long trips as unlike 01DodgeRam360's mine rides pretty good. Doesn't ride bad at all. You can hear the tires hum and they are not like a car tire but they don't ride harsh at all and better than a lot of trucks so I don't mind driving it if I have to go somewhere.

Anyway, sorry for the super long post I just wanted to explain I finally decided to keep my truck as it's really what I want. I don't even know what I'd get to replace it as the Tahoe or Suburban are the only new things I like the looks of and I don't really want one other than the looks.

Wayne, relax!! LOL.

I have many incentives to sell my truck at the moment. For one, the transmission alone has turned me off. That whole ordeal with that shop really put a sour taste in my mouth; had the performance transmission gone right, I'd be keeping this truck. But now it's a stock transmission, and this makes me nervous. You have an APS transmission. Secondly, you've already tackled your plenum gasket with an APS kit, so you don't even have to worry about it anymore. I've just had a lot of bad luck with my truck; ranging from the rear end, the transmission, body work, and future engine issues. My truck is running mint right now and has no dents, this is the time to sell it if I want a new dependable ride. Your in a position where your allowing all of the unnecessary money play with your mind. If your truck was stock right now, you'd have no problems parting ways with your truck. But you cannot live with the fact that you'd be selling your truck for stock value when you easily have $15K dumped into it. I am in the same boat, but I'm willing to accept my mistake that I foolishly dumped all of my money into my truck, and start over. I know I messed up, and I know I spent too much money on my truck. Hell, if my truck was stock right now with tiny tires, no tint, stock exhaust, and all dented, I wouldn't give a ****. But the fact I spent so much money on it makes it hard to part ways. But that's my own doing. You have to decide what your willing to bear. If you can bear you made a mistake and put too much money into it and cut your losses and learn from you mistake and get a new vehicle, then your in my boat. But if you aren't willing to accept losing the money, then you're the perfect candidate for keeping the truck you've put a lot of money into. When I buy a new truck, any money I want to dump into it should go towards my payments. Like I said, all dumping money into a vehicle does is make it that much harder to part ways with something that you would have most likely not had an issue of doing had it been stock.

I'll see if I can't find some leather seats for your truck. or at least a place that would re-upholster them.

I always like having older vehicles myself just for the sake of not having a car payment. Gives you some money to play with them BUT it's OPTIONAL unlike a car payment. And regularly drive my truck about 350 miles one way. I like driving my truck.

Also I totally agree about how much it would suck to get something brand new and scratch it or something. I get pissed now when I scratch mine. If it was new i'd go ballistic.

For you I see your reason 100% why you want to sell your truck. To be honest it's a nice truck but I don't blame you. I was seriously thinking about doing the same with mine but I decided for what I need it for it does great. To be honest I think you and I have different things we need our trucks to be good for.

It's your only vehicle so it needs to be a good all around vehicle.

Where mine while I do drive it a lot isn't my only vehicle.

I also started with one that was used but super nice and not that old when I started with it. So any problems are my fault.

Where as yours started out pretty beat up from the sound of it and you have completely turned it around and made it look amazing. Like you said though you still have the issues of stuff the previous owner messed up.

I don't think you selling your truck is a bad thing at all if you want to do that.

I just thought and have been thinking about it since before you posted all this that I want to get rid of mine. However, after doing a lot of thinking about it I've decided I want to keep mine as yes I'm attached but honestly it drives great and does great at everything I need it to do.
