Alright, I didn't mean to touch on such a sensitive topic. My bad.

Moving on, so I felt my upper radiator hose and there's not that much pressure to it, like there use to be. I'm thinking my cap is bad even though it's only 3 years old. Does this sound about right?

Sorry. They are supposed to fail in the open position. Sometimes my fingers type what my brain isn't thinking.

Failing in the OPEN position means the vehicle will just run cold, as opposed to overheating. I will fix my previous post.

Regarding no pressure in my upper hose; I changed the radiator cap and I still don't have much pressure in my upper hose. This one's throwing me for a loop. I don't have any leaks and I'm not losing coolant. The cooling system is very basic. What could be causing this condition? I've tried searching the forum and Google but no luck. Truck feels great other then that. Any suggestions?

do this... when the motor is cold, fire it up and let it start to warm up. feel the upper hose and it should be cool. once the t-stat opens up you will feel the coolant start to flow. if it does, the t-stat is at least opening. it could be that the t-stat is sticking if the temp is fluctuating.

what made you change it to start with?

I was in Stockton, CA (close to Sacramento) visiting my sister. She was having car troubles so I went to go check that out. When I left in the morning (I had a 100 mile trip ahead of me since I live in San Francisco) about 20 miles in to the drive home, I noticed my temp gauge was still at 130 degrees. I don't know WHY or WHAT exactly triggered the stat to crap out on me, but it did. I wish I knew so I could fix it. I will try what you suggested. I think this Saturday I will change my stat anyway. The neighborhood that I got it from looks like the type where someone would return a bad/used stat just for the money, and the box was kind of beat up.

did you match up the p/n's? you may have the wrong t-stat if you did not get it from the autoparts store...

Don't get me wrong, I didn't buy it off the street. I got it from Autozone. It was just in a pretty bad neighborhood. I got it while on my way home. I checked the box and the stat to make sure it was a 192 degree stat. I put 195 on the title by accident.
