dont get airaid. dont get me wrong, i liked it but when i closed my hood it was touching the hoodliner which i'm sure wasn't good for it. I had burn marks all over it so i switched back to the stock airbox. i'm wanting to do the round air cleaner like some of yall have.

The Volant might be better, I haven't tested both, but the Volant is also going to be over $200, usually at least $250. The 14x3 is $50 at worst case, usually. The K&N element for the 14x3 can wait, if you want.

Do what you think would like the best to you. I got the Volant so I could draw air from stock side wheel well and the front grille area, a somewhat kind-of ram air effect, without sucking in hot engine air. The 14x3 ignores the whole (and hotly debated) cold air idea and just sucks in tons more air. Both will work well, you'll notice a difference either way.

Ok, well i def. like the price of the box much more than the volant. And looks aren't that important to me.

Being a former owner of a 2000 5.9 4x4 with the FIPK & a 6x9 filter... I say that route is a good one. I have no experience with the TB filter so I cant comment on it. I will say that the 6x9 filter on the FIPK tube provided a noticeable bump in upper rpm hp. there was a slight loss in low end torque that went along with it, I ended up swaping filters as needed when needing more low end torque. the larger filter did stay on 90% of the time though.

on the tuners.. I had a Hypertech and liked it. there was a noticeable change in performance, nothing compared to what you get on a diesel but it was there. the SCT tuner came out after I sold my truck and some have mentioned that on the 5.9 motor it is the way to go. Do some research on it and decide for yourself.

my .02.5%

Alright , thanks. Just so i'm not getting confused, that ram airbox would be the most beneficial but just putting a 14X3 airbox would be beneficial as well? What all would i need to make the change form the stock intake to the 14X3?

-The Round aircleaner
- threaded rod (3/8in. I think)
- a wing nut
- a stand alone oil crankcase breather

yep. have to agree round air cleaner is the best. however im running them ram air. its similar to the aem short ram intake for most imports to give you an idea what it looks like. if you plan to go off roading alot. i wouldnt reccomend a cai. you could easily hydro lock your motor which isnt good. (suckin in water in the intake). go with the round one or a ram air *short ram* intake.
