Thumbs down Black box on inner fender

couple weeks ago i bought a '94 1500 4x4 automatic, i love it! but i was just snooping under the hood and i noticed a black box bolted to the driver's side inner fender just behind the shock mount, it says chrysler on it, and the electrical connector is not plugged in, and looks like it hasn't been for awhile, does anyone know what this box is for?????would really like to know

It's your module for your daytime running lamps. All vehicles built for export to Canada have them.

From where you're talking about, I would say the anti-lock computer but a pic would help.

i's a black box with a chrysler emblem on it and a part number, the electrical conector is pointed towards the engine, the plug that is not conected has about 2 rows of 5 pins on it

also if anyone knows..i have a switch just to the left of my OD on/off switch, it is unmarked and does not appear to do anything

Yup, the switch beside od is for the fog light option. The box under the hood is the daytime running light module and when it fry's, your DRL's remain on even when the truck is shut off, that module gets smokin' hot and the brights idiot light illuminates. The only way to turn off the lights is to unplug the module, or disconnect the battery. FYI, the Module retails for about $150 CDN incase yours is NFG.

i will leave it unplugged for that price, don't need them, and now i wish i had the fog light to go with the switch...lol

My lamp module is on the drivers fender almost across from the vacum booster. It has a grey plug in that would point to the engine which looks like it has two rows of five wires.
My truck was built for Canadian export and somehow ended up back in the states.

Thanks atc250r, I'm happy to know I can unplug it when it fails.
