Well let me be the first to congratulate you. Here's your target physical fitness goal for your final PFT: 20 pull-ups, 80 setups in 2 minutes, and run 3 miles in 18 minutes. If you can do these by the time you graduate then that's a perfect PFT score which goes towards your promotion score. Start working on that goal now. Also a perfect rifle range score is 250. The Marine Corps has 3 types of shooting badges for the M-16 and the 45 cal pistol: Rifle Expert, Sharp Shooter, and Marksman. We shoot at 200, 300, and 500 meters open sights no scope. The 200 meter is standing kneeling and prone, 300 meters kneeling and prone, and 500 meters prone only. Hopefully this helps and I'm pretty sure it's the same as when I went through in 1983. Sincde you're in N.C. you will go to boot camp at Paris Island, SC. I was stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC with 2ND Marine Division.

and the rifle scoring has changed as well. when i went through boot it was still the 250 point scale, but now its a 350 point scale which includes a combat shooting portion(hence the higher score). the stances have changed at each yard line from what you said. here's an article that can explain it better than i can. http://www.marine-corps-news.com/200...field_fi_1.htm
oh, and everything anyone might have ever taught you about shooting a weapon, throw it out the window now. lol
