I believe it is a separate problem, O2 manages air/fuel mixture. Separate, but maybe not unrelated as either issue may effect the other.

Other members are more studied on the electronics and timing. Maybe they will see the question shortly....drewactual.....aim.....

i have the same problem with my 5.9 liter as well.i did all the basics.complete tune up,cap, rotor, plugs and wires, coil.i was getting misfire codes on cyls 4,5,7.i even swapped injectors to see if the misfires would change cyls,it didnt.fuel pressure is ok.im almost at a loss.it sounds that many people are having the same problem, and no fix for it.

thats a lot of misfires? have you checked fuel pressure? I am getting odd spark plaug burning on my #1 cylinder and yesterday I finally got a misfire on that cylinder as well as a multiple misfires code and popping while accelerating in overdrive. It appears I may have been bit by yet another Dodge engineering failure with a cracked head (so common on these trucks they were backordered from dodge on and off through 97-98) ....sigh. at least I know the overdrive shudder isnt from my newly rebuilt transmission.
I've heard if the plugs look like they are unevenly burning like mine thats a good indicator... half is white and half is blackish after about a 40 mile drive.

Default The time is now.

Well Augie if that miss you have been fighting with is indeed a cracked head the time is ripe for you to now buy a decent head. Hughes,Indy, etc. If you stay with the 192 valved head you will retain good lower end torque figures.
I hope you have found your problem!

I don't really see the point in spending a grand per head..... Odessa/Clearwater markets better-than-stock replacement heads for under 300 each.....

FYI guys. I think the o2 sensor has solved the problem, although time will tell. That being said, I put the truck up for sale, and may not have it much longer.

I would not send aything to "AutomotiveComputerExchange.com" You can do a searhc here, and see that they appear to have a bad reputation.
