Default HELP! Truck turm off while driving

I was diving my 97 2500 4x4 and the truck just shut off while driving. It started after it sat for a while, then ran for about 30 seconds and turned off again. After doing that 3 times the truck ran great until today. it dod the same thing again, but now will now fire.

1. Yes, it has fuel, and yes the fuel pump is working.
2. I pulled a plug wire and did not get spark, then all of a sudden I got spark and it ran for about 30 seconds and died. Has not run since.
3. Everything else on the truck works perfectly, except it would start.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be or where I should even start looking? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post!

turn your truck on and wiggle the coil harness and see if that makes any difference. Mine went out on me and would cut out sporadically. hope that helped.

definitely sounds like an ignition issue. i'd check you coil, since your not getting spark at certain times like that. if its not that, cap and rotor.

I will try that.
Has anyone had issues with the crank sensor that caused this issue?

I have an idea for you but you are not going to like it...My dads 99 1500 had the same problem and it was the computer..replaced it and didnt have anymore problems. Even got better fuel millage. But it was intermittent like yours.

I found the issue. It was the retention clip on the harness that plugs into the coil. I was pull back and was allowing the clip to slide down, hence losing the connection to the coil.

As always...Thanks for everyone help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chalk one up for proper diagnosis rather than blatantly buying parts!
