I was pulling a grade today and noticed the temp was getting hotter than normal. As soon as I would top out, it would drop back down to normal. Would this be the fan clutch or something else. Thanks for any help.
What I meant was when I would get to the top of the hill.Yea 5.2. It would not overheat, but ran hotter than normal. Should be in the 200-220 range correct?
only time mine gets warmer than normal, is if i pull on to the highway and stand on it till im doing about 60 or 70
or when im towing a wagon, and i hit a hill, damn slow speed farm wagon
When I had the stocker t-stat in my truck (before the "kegger modded" intake manifold), mine would never get hotter than 200. WOT onto the highway, hauling light loads, etc. the needle never went above 200. When I had the manifold replaced with the modified one, I had a new 195 t-stat installed, and now my temperature always stays around 180-190. It hasn't gotten to 195 yet, let alone above.
If it is a stocker, I would have to say normal. You prolly should check out the coolant level and at least put in a new T-stat. It is your preferance on what temp, if you tow alot then go with a 180 if not stick with the 195 IMHO.
