my engine had a whine and it was the tensioner pulley, with the belt on i could move it a little side to side

I am almost thinking something along the lines of an alternator bearing.
Could be the fan clutch though...
Could be the tension pulley, and WD-40 might not cure that...

laramie you are right alternator bearings are mad, any ideas on how to rebuild my old one, have talked to a couple of people they say to just buy new one, however I would like to say the $

Get a rebuilt one, not a new one.

In the big picture, it would probably be cheaper to just buy a rebuilt one from Oreilly's.

Can you clarify?
I think I get that you rebuilt it, and you are still having issues with it. But, I don't get the rest of that.....

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out.

At this point you can try replacing the alternator, or going to a shop to have it looked at.
