transmission removal

Default transmission removal

hello there im new to this site. im in the process of removing my transmission from 2001 dadge ram. its pretty much out just afew more things that i cant seem to figure out. how does the drive shaft come off and what would be the easiest way to get it out. also is there a web site out there thats would be helpful?

You need to remove the drive shaft from the rear end yoke, drop it and the other end will slide out.

think i got a few of those i just wanted to make sure before i got coverd in grease and then had to run out to get something. is there any thing particular that i need to look while removing the tranny?

When you pull the shaft out some fluid will leak out, so a drain pan will help keep things less messy.

its all drained out was just look last night at the drive shaft and wanted to make sure that i get it right. i will say i dont think i like the design of how it attaches to things not like my mustang i know differnt makers but still much easier in the older cars

Make sure you mark the driveshafts position with the yoke or flange. This insures proper balance is retained after re-install. Also, be sure to get any rust of your flexplate and blow your old cooling lines free.
