The one on the tail shaft supposedly does nothing, but, I would replace it and see before I spent 900 bucks on a new instrument panel. I would also first try cleaning the connector on both that one, and the one on rear end, and trace and check the wiring.

I'd go with the speed sensor as well. Check the manual and see if there isn't a voltage or resistance check you can't run on it.

I agree on testing those parts the dealership did on mine before they changed the cluster. I insisted on it. I have the truck back now and speedo is working great. Goodluck

Yeah, I sure hope I dont need a new cluster... fawk all that. Thanks for the added info though.

I cleaned the heck out of the connection on the rear diff. and the speedo is working now, but it is still very speratic... drops up and down between 15 and 60 MPH quite often when cruising around 55, just like the original one that I took out was doing (rrrrrrr).

I will check the one on the tailshaft and see what kind of condition that connector is in.

Thanks for the opinions fellas.

Default throttle body mods

Hello,

I have a 98' ram and I have bought a 5.2l motor that I am going to rebuild for it. I have time as my motor is tired but still runs. Most of the rebuild I will be doing myself with the guidance of a local engine shop. But I want practicle advice from you guys.

Its a blank slate so help me out. As for the throttle body and intake mods, what are you doing to them. I cant find that thread.

Hey Purple, thats what I would say too!lol. Dont worry man, I promise you will break alot more stuff if you keep working on cars. Wait until you shoot a coil spring across the shop and miss an $70,000 corvette by inches!
