Default 3.90 or 4.10 gear swap

My differential is definitely on it's last leg so I'm trying to figure out what would be best for my truck. I'm getting mixed opinions from everybody about getting the 4.10 gears, some say it will not work, some say it will make my RPM's sky rocket and I would hate it. Some say I'll notice a good increase in acceleration and some say it would cause to many problems having to re-time things or something. I want more acceleration, off the line my truck is alright but I want a little more low end power off the line. I was looking at this website.

Is there anything special I would have to do to put 4.10 gears in the stock housing? I will be replacing everything inside the differential. I was quoted $500 for everything. Since it's my girlfriends uncle that will be installing it for me I just need to get the parts. So the question is, would I get a big impact on my mileage if I went with 3.90 or 4.10? Right now 70mph is at 2000 RPM. Thanks!

im at 2k when im at 70 too. Ive got 4.10s, but i also have 33s. If your going to run 33s 4.10s are good anything bigger than that you need 4.56s or lower.

i dont think you will have any complaints with 4.10s. they came stock on my truck and with the stock 265 tires it ran great. i would go 4.10

I went and talked to a differential dealer here locally and he said putting 4.10 in my pickup would be outrageous. He said at 70mph my RPM's would be at 3500+. So he recommended putting 3.93 gears in. What are your thoughts on that? I would really like to put 4.10's in but if it will be a mistake that I may regret, I'm slightly scared lol. Should I maybe try and get bigger tires? Do I need to redo my speedometer as well if I change out the gear ratio?
