Default My front end feels loose and sloppy...Please help!!!

I own a 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4. I just had the front end looked at and the guy replaced the track bar and the drivers side ball joints. I took it to him because the front end felt bad and loose everywhere. It's really sloppy feeling on bumps etc. It feels like the whole axle just rattles back and forth when I drive. I owned a 96 ram a few years back ant it felt the same way. What should I look at replacing now? The truck has 123,000 miles on it.

Thanks Eric

It's hard to search something that you haven't a clue about. That's why i asked the question. I really don't want to have to search and search through posts and posts when I can just ask a simple question and hopefully get some incite from a few folks about it. Isn't that what a forum is for? Not trying to be rude at all thought just stating.

Well, 9 times out of 10 you can get better answers just by searching.
Using just the information you gave me, I found this in about two minutes: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-steering.html
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ll-sloppy.html
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-steering.html
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-steering.html

Now with that info you should have a very good start to your answers. And you got it all in about 15 minutes. The time to get those kind of replies would have taken at least a day.

Those are all steering related though. It's not so much the steering. It's the actual up and down of the suspension. Thanks for the help though.

Lol. I was driving home today and told myself I will replace the shocks and see what that does. Just need to get into town and pick some up. Would be nice if it were just shocks. Will wait and see. Eric

You might try just looking at them, usually if they are black, and have the chrysler logo on them, they are factory still. I went almost 130000 miles on the factory shocks. When I removed them, they just collapsed.

I believe they are the originals. I got to thinking the past few days that if there is no compression in the old shocks and they are shot that my axle would rattle around like that due to no pressure from the shocks keeping it dampened. I will update when i get the new ones on.

if the track bar has been replaced then you should be looking at suspension and steering the steering stabilizers are cheap i had the same problem in my 00' and it quit after that, i bought the pro comp steering stailizer @ 4wheelparts.com works great and still running. Other than that break out the wrenches you may just have some loose bolts need tending too.
