1999 dodge ram gearing ratio
One thing you might want to keep in mind, these magnum V8's are not the most powerful truck motor ever built. Sure they are stout, but they are massively lacking in the power department. But, you also have to realize that the Magnum motor was designed in the 60's too.

Id say 4.10 then. The bad thing is, and this is why I never changed mine. 1. 4x4 means you gotta change the front too 2. I drive mainly highway, and losing 1-2 MPG is out of the question. Each to their own, but be thankful that you don't have the 3.23(Might be 2 IDK) gearing that I have.
Also, the basic search feature is worth less in my opinion, I use the advanced portion where you can set parameters on your search and find better results.

Also got a bone to pick with ya, seen you claim you have 3.23 gears several times in other threads. How do ya know? To my knowledge, the lowest gear ratio these trucks came with was 3.55. Lift up your hood, there should be an information sheet on the bottom of it that states your gearing.
Matt, as far as that picture goes, we can't see enough of the sticker to give you an opinion. Even if we did get the whole thing, there's no way to know for sure. There are even dealerships that will flat out lie to your face that "you don't have the 'death flash'" even when you know you do, because they don't want to deal with any possible grief you may give them over it.
All I know is that if your truck has been to a $tealership at all since it was built, pretty much 2000 or later, 99% sure it has the "death flash".
+1 for the advanced feature.

I do know that the axles are NOT stock by any means. The transfer case is different as well.
My grandfather owned this truck before me, and he had some stuff done to it before I got it. Not 100% on what was all done.
I will do some loking around the next time I am under the hood to know 100% what it came with, and I will try to hunt down what it has..... I have that recipt for the gears laying around here somewhere....
i think 2 wheel drive 1/2 tons with the v6 could come with like 3.21 gears
but don't hold me to that
but i have 32s, what ever the truck came with, this summer im gonna get new ones, getting the same size, just a heaver tire [D load rating]
and i have 3.55s and the truck has plenty of power for the old butt dyno, and towing

My '97 ram QCSB was a 4x4 and had 3:21 gears with open diffs and 265/16 tires. It also didn't have the factory towing or any heavy duty package, which may have provided 3:55s as a baseline gear.
It was also not anywhere near the dog my 2000 is.
MattBiz, you can do a google search for deathflash codes and may be able to find your numbers on there.

Thank you, I was starting to think I was losing my mind.
Yea sorry I couldn't get a good angle on it but based off what you guys are saying I'm just going to assume that I have the death flash, now how do I check and see if my plenum gasket is torn is there an easy way to tell that?

is that code the death flash?
