my 96 ECSB 4x4 sport with a 318 usually isn't bad. I get about 14-15 in town and 18+ on the interstate. I have an auto with 3.55's in the back. 245 75 16's on it for rubber. Cruises about 72 mph at about 2k on the tach. I've never had a problem with mileage considering the size of the vehicle and the size of the motor. My wife doesn't do as good as I do at the pump, but when she gets to drive it she flogs it pretty hard. She's used to driving her Civic LOL. I'm gonna guess she gets 12-14 in town and about 16-18 on the highway, still not bad considering. Maybe mine is in really good repair or there's some factor that we aren't looking at here. I recently replaced the convertor and ypipe on my truck though. It was kinda bad before I did that though. A suggestion to you guys that are really bad for no real reason. Tap around on the bottom of your convertor and see if it rattles or not. Mine was all busted up inside. Funny thing is the OBD II SHOULD have seen a problem, but it didn't throw a code at all. A huge chunk of the convertor was plugging up the convertor outlet on mine. Only real mods I have is a drop in K&N filter and a custom non mandrel bent 3" cat back with dual 2.5 tails out the back with a 50 series flowmaster. Even though I'm a 5.2 it shouldn't be more than 3-4 mpg if even that in a vehicle this size. Gearing and tires will have more of an effect than a 5.2 vs a 5.9.
