Default magnaflow

all ya'll with the magnaflows chime in, how do ya like em? i was under my truck with a heat gun yesterday and hit the cat and it was 500º on the front and 400º on the back and 350º about 6" behind it on the pipe. and my sister has to replace hers on her 99 (sounds like a little kid has a set of drum sticks and is going to town on her exhaust when it gets warm) and her getting a magnaflow is making me want one. i guess what i'm wanting to know is did you notice an increase in hp? did you lose/gain some torque? and does your exhaust have the 2000 rpm and up popping/rapping/snapping noise. i have a y pipe where my muffler used to be with headers and a cai, so when i get a magnaflow it'll be the only thing limiting the airflow on my engine.

Get one ASAP! I love mine. Got it for $160 online. It has noticeable more noise at idle, more giddyup, more throttle response and yes, more noise at 2k rpm. I really love how it pops like a muscle car from about 1700-2100 rpms. I have a Flowmaster 50 so results may vary. Big thumbs up here!

i love the results i got from my cat, the more you open up the exhaust the more pop whatever you are going to get, poping happends on all vehicals, its just leftover fuel that hits off the headers/maniflods and explodes sometimes i get a flame out of the cutout i have lol

I like mine a lot. Gave my truck a good sound. It's hooked to an extreme cherry bomb which I love the whole package.

thanks for the input. summit has the universal magnaflows for 72$ and i have a 1 in and 1 out cat with the o2 sensors a few inches from either side so it'll be easy with a sawzall and the mig welder.

That's cool. I had to get a direct fit because of the many different exhaust configuration I tried up to the one I have now that I like I didn't have much pipe left to work with.

i put the magnaflow on today. man that thing gave the exhaust a mean tone. at first it had a pretty loud popping in the higher rpms, then after it got hot the popping stopped and now it just sounds mean.
did any other magnaflow guys have the snapping noise in the higher rpms when it first got installed?

i have the cat and a home brew straight piped dual exhaust. now i'm thinking i need to go dig up one of my old glass packs to throw on there because its so loud. i'm not a fan of mufflers but if its too loud then i'll throw a glass pack on there to tone it down a little.
but yeah, its quite the growl.
i have a leak in the top of the pipe in the front of the cat too because i didn't have a mirror or a good light with me at the shop so i was trying to weld it blind, but i'll fix that today. i think i'll have to break out the stick welder and just bend a stick to get at it since the mig welders handle is a little awkward in such tight spaces.
