didnt have much time in the garage today but put on my oilfilter plate and gasket. And cleaned up my timing chain cover. Called my head guy and he has my locks and retainers ordered. He also checked on spings and they are going to be about 200$ suck. Hope to do more tomorow.

Still working on my Indy heads, port and polishing myself what a horrible process. Hoping it will pay off in the long run. Plus I can't resist playing around with them while i wait for my 2000 rpm stall converter to arrive. I currently have a 3000 stall, but its just not doing it for me.

well we ran into a little bit of a problem the other day. I took my heads over to the head guy. I called comp and with my cam specs and they want 125# at 1.8 And they suggested a specific spring for that application. The problem with that is my valves that are supplied with the heads are about .200 short. I cant use some new 340 valves that we have because they are 3/8 and engine quest are set up for 8mm. So I need to find a spring that will work or a longer valve. The stock valves and springs only give me 90# @ 1.560ish. We found some 901 springs that would get us in the ball park with 120# @ 1.6 but the retainers are not working out. I could have some custom valves made but that would be some bucks. Also I am limited to behive springs untill I can conferm weather or not stock magnum rockers will work with a conventional spring. Suck I know there is a guy on here that swapped out his cam and used the eq heads and also used some shorty headers tb intake so i will see what setup he has.

I went through the same thing a couple months ago. When they were setting up my EQ`s he had problems getting the right valve, retainer and spring combo. Ill check my build sheet and see what he used.

Well ran into quite a problem with the eq heads. I had my head guy price the manley bits posted above and it came to 515 plus tax. That puts my eq heads at 1500 said and done! I could have bought some aluminum eldenbrock heads for 1450. So I am going to call hughes tomorrow and see what they have for valves. Manley wanted 305. soo it really sucks. These heads are ment to be stock replacement head thats why they come with short valves and 8mm and not our beloved and common 3/8.

Well I called hughes the other day and got ahold of some folks there. They know there stuff. They have done a ton of eq heads. He said that I could use my stock valves and lock I would just need some differnt springs and retainers. 150 for both! sweet! ordering them tomorow. Brother put on my oil slinger infront of the timing chain. And prepped my timing chain cover. Also he shimmed two of my stock lifters to use for checking pushrod length with our adjustable pushrod. We cant do too much with the motor untill we get the heads. Today I finished the undercoating the driverside fenderwell. Tomorrow I hope to paint it. Then I will just have the two rear fenderwells to do. It feels nice to get rid of that rust.

Well I got my heads back today!!!!! And now we can start cruising on the motor.

got an exhaust question for you guys. I have the pacesetter ceramic long tube headers I will be running an x pipe with duals. I do not plan on using any type of cat. What problems will this cause with the o2 sensors and how do I get around any of these problems. I have an sct and will be calling my tuner. thanks guys

I found this http://www.vfaq.com/mods/O2bypass.html
