But seriously, you can get countless cam grinds for different performance. I'm assuming all this does is basically mirror the performance curve of the factory cam...which seems to lack in the low end. The comments I've seen about the 1.7's are mostly from guys with 5.2's.
Yr kidding right I thought I had to blow start it lol.

Have you tried replacing the fastman with your stock TB>? I'm curious because the factory TB, being smaller, would have more low speed velocity and a stronger vacumn signal under acceleration.

The 1.7 rockers multiply your lift which allows the cylinder to fill up with a bigger charge. Basically the valve goes deeper into the cylinder which allows more air and fuel to pass thru the valve opening.

The stock cam has a .432 lift on the intake and exhaust valves. The stock rocker ratio is 1.6 on the magnum engine. Divide .432 by 1.6 then multiply by the new 1.7 rocker ratio and your new lift becomes .459 at max open that's .027 inches more room to get air and fuel in at max lift. Also, when the lifter starts to travel up the cam's lobe, it pushes the valve open just a bit further across the cam lobes entire ground-in duration. Basically is amplifies the cam's lobe to make it taller, but not wider.

I am looking at buying this cam when I change my Timing Gear and chain. This cam's intake lift 1.6 is .490''. Would'nt this cam be better than 1.7 Roller rockers for $140 less?

Ok, makes sense, but that might talk me out of the 1.7 upgrade. I don't really think the factory powerband is satisfactory, and mirroring it (which is how I see the upgrade in my dumbed down terms) probably isn't right for me.

to the OP, your driving a heavy, under powered truck, to get it to move, mash that throttle to the floor, and it'll go.
mine is a dog...when im towing anything over about 6500 lbs. Like i was pulling a 12000 lb wagon full of beans, felt like i was dragging a damn boat anchor.

Yes, IF you have the down time to take apart your engine and install the cam, then using a tuner..(SCT) to retune the engine for the cam. So with tuner and cam, plus labor (if you cant do it yourself) thats more than the 1.7s. Even if you can install it by yourself, SCT + cam > 1.7
