Well I followed your other thread. I would do what Purpl suggested with a air compressor and the leak down test. It is either a valve not seating, blown head gasket, piston ring fried or head cracked.

And yes the engine will run like crap with only 7 good cylinders.

so a head job means a total F**N engine rebuild basically
so i might as well say a used engine because its 500 bucks cheaper GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR or do u guys think I can find someone to trow some new rings and hone the cylinder and re surface the head ect... for less than 1200 Canadian????? How long or can I drive like this for a bit ??? or tow my trailer on one cylinder with 50psi????? running compression????????

NO!! Just the top end. I have already done this and will do again, don't ask.

I would say if your just pulling the heads and changing a gasket maybe $100, but I would suggest finding a machine shop and have them go over it end to end and get it machined flat, then your looking at still less than $500.

Remember I said don't ask, well this is what I have to do as well because I skipped the machine shop step. Will be the second time I pull the heads.

They are easy but very time consuming.

Anythings possible. If your local mechanic doesn't bend you over for money, than yes he should be able to. And its another way to check the cylinder health if you will.

I wouldn't get another engine, because you could buy one in worse condition. Stick with what you have.

Definitely less than that. For that kind of money you could build that engine up into a real beast.
