Default trans temp light 1998 ram 1500 4 wheel drive

I just installed a used trans in my 98 ram 1500, trans temp light keeps coming on.
here's what i've done so far.
check valve seems ok, blew threw it with air.
ran it on computer, said engine temp was 212 trans temp was 298, however i put my hand on the engine oil pan , was pretty hot....trans pan was much cooler.....
i think maybe the temp. sensor is faulty.....where is this temp sensor???
oh, by the way...the temp light seems to be random....sometimes its on sometimes not....might get in drive ten miles, go into a store, come out and drive back home and everything is fine....no light...
trans works good otherwise.
HELP!!!! ANYONE!

The sensor is on the left side of the tranny in one of the lines running to the cooler.

It's pretty much coming right out of the tranny, that's how close it is. Maybe just cleaning the connector will solve the problem.

there are 3 electrical plugs on my trans. one is neutral safety, the other is the speed sensor and then there is one that has 5 or 6 wires on it.....not sure what that one is, i cleaned that one....no change, i think the valve body has to come out to change that one , so i am assuming that is something to do with shifting?

Sorry, I looked over your sig again. Only the diesel and v10 I think have that sensor in that spot. On ours I believe it's in the tranny and part of one of the other sensors in the pan.

The temp sensor is part of the governor pressure sensor.
